Glacier picks up 1st win at Sentinel
MISSOULA — Glacier senior Drew Turner ran for 223 yards and five touchdowns as the Wolfpack finally found its groove, beating Missoula Sentinel 48-23 on Friday night at Missoula County Stadium in Class AA football play.
The Wolfpack (1-4) was hitting on all cylinders from the start, nearly scoring a touchdown on its opening play before blocking a punt midway through the first to set up a short Turner touchdown.
Turner scored again on the Pack’s next drive and plugged in a two-point conversion to give Glacier a 14-0 lead after the first quarter.
Sentinel (3-2) fought back, hitting a 77-yard touchdown pass to Griz commit Nick Germer and cutting the lead to 14-10 with five minutes to play before half.
Glacier’s own Griz commits answered, however, with Jackson Pepe adding a 15-yard touchdown before the break.
Turner broke loose in the third quarter, scoring a pair of 61-yard touchdowns, and Bobcats commit Mark Estes hauled in a 48-yard touchdown pass from Evan Todd to lift the Wolfpack to a 41-10 lead midway through the frame.
Two more long touchdown passes, including another to Germer, kept the game close but Turner shut the door on a comeback, reeling off a 25-yard touchdown run to put the game out of reach.
Glaciers hosts Great Falls High on Friday for a homecoming game.
