Allen Hanson, 67

| April 4, 2018 2:00 AM

Allen Hanson was born in Kalispell on Sept. 3, 1950, to Richard and Josephine Hanson.

He passed away on March 28, 2018, after a courageous battle with a brain tumor.

Allen was the fifth child of eight. He went to Mt. View School and Marion School before attending Flathead High. He went on to receive a two-year degree in forestry and surveying from Flathead Valley Community College.

In 1971 he joined Kinniburgh Brothers Inc., as a sawyer and a skidder operator, eventually buying into the company.

After selling the company, Allen proceeded to work as a welder for Plum Creek.

On March 11, 1972, Allen married the love of his life, Sherian Kinniburgh. They just celebrated their 46th anniversary.

They had three children, Crystal, Brian and Sandy.

Allen had several hobbies in the form of woodworking, renovation projects, hunting with his son and fishing with his grandsons. Even when he was busy, Allen always took the time to help others in their time of need.

He is survived by his wife Sherian, his children, Crystal Hanson, Brian and Jen Hanson, and Sandy and Dan Engeland; grandsons, Ian Hanson, Brice Hanson, Colton Engeland and Corbin Engeland, and granddaughter Zoe Bruce. He is also survived by two sisters, Carol Slaybaugh and Janet Hanson, and one brother Richard Hanson, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Allen was a father figure to his nieces, always taking the time to talk with them and he was genuinely interested in how they were doing and what they were up to.

He leaves a huge void in the lives of his sisters, wife, children and grandchildren.

There will be a viewing at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 6, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m., which will take place at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home in Kalispell.
