Bonus weekend at Blacktail; maybe more

Blacktail Mountain Ski Area is keeping the slopes open at least one extra weekend.

As one of the winners in this winter of heavy snow, the Lakeside resort reported a 128-inch base on Sunday — 32 inches more than last year’s end-of-season base.

That gives the mountain “a unique opportunity to select its closing day based upon weather and participation,” said Blacktail spokesperson Arin Lever.

The ski area’s managers have decided to stay open at least one more weekend, from Friday, April 13, through Sunday, April 15.

“We’d love to stay open as long as possible and take advantage of the incredible base and the warmer spring conditions,” Lever said. “So if the folks keep skiing, we’ll keep the lifts running.”

According to office manager Arla Rosso, all of Blacktail’s 24 trails are still open. An adult lift ticket costs $36 for a half day and $42 for a full day. All current season-pass holders at any Montana ski resort receive the half day rate when skiing at Blacktail.
