Glacier High School rules Crosstown Boxing Smoker

Hundreds gathered at the Flathead County Fairgrounds on Thursday night for the Crosstown Boxing Smoker benefitting Flathead Valley wrestling programs.

Thirty-eight athletes from Flathead, Glacier, Whitefish, Columbia Falls and Bigfork participated in the ninth annual event.

Glacier led area schools with 10 bout wins. Flathead had five victories, Whitefish three and Columbia Falls one.

The inaugural boxing smoker raised money for local wrestlers who struggled to pay second-day expenses at high school tournaments, but it has since expanded to help fund camps, purchase equipment and provide scholarships.

In its nine years, the smoker has raised more than $100,000.
