Nonprofits chosen for upcoming Great Fish Challenge

The Whitefish Community Foundation this week announced the 50 nonprofit organizations that will be part of the foundation’s fourth annual Great Fish Community Challenge this summer.

The fundraiser has helped nonprofits in Whitefish and surrounding areas raise critical program funding since it began in 2015. In just three years, the Challenge has raised over $4.5 million for more than 50 charities and has impacted the lives of thousands. More than 1,500 donors have used this special campaign as an integral part of their financial giving over the past three years.

Participating nonprofits for 2018 are:

Abbie Shelter, Alpine Theatre Project, Backpack Assistance Program, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flathead County, Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation, CASA for Kids, Center for Restorative Youth Justice, Columbia Falls and Whitefish High School swim teams, Child Bridge, DREAM Adaptive Recreation, Farm Hands - Nourish the Flathead, Flathead Cancer Aid Services, Flathead Food Bank, Flathead Land Trust, Flathead Rapids, Flathead Shelter Friends, Flathead Valley Ski Education Foundation, Flathead Youth Home, Friends of the Flathead Avalanche Center, FVCC Foundation, Glacier Institute, Glacier National Park Conservancy, Glacier Nordic Club, Glacier Symphony and Chorale, Habitat for Humanity of Flathead Valley, Humane Society of Northwest Montana, Intermountain Children’s Services, Nate Chute Foundation. Whitefish Community Foundation will launch the Great Fish Community Challenge on July 26 with a party at The Wave Aquatic and Fitness Center. Donors are encouraged to attend and give their favorite nonprofits a chance to win the instant grant drawings, while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and drinks.

The foundation organizes the Great Fish Community Challenge and provides the matching funds to inspire the community to give. The challenge will run seven weeks and culminate with a community celebration Sept. 8 at Depot Park.
