Legion Baseball Streaking Twins edge Gallatin Valley 5-3 in 8 innings

MILES CITY —The Glacier Twins needed extra innings to put away a stubborn and determined Gallatin Valley Outlaws crew on Thursday afternoon at the Montana-Alberta Class A State American Legion baseball tournament.

Gallatin Valley rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie it at 2-all. Glacier tallied three runs in the top of the eighth while Gallatin Valley answered with one for a hard-fought 5-3 victory.

The game was scoreless through four innings. Glacier (37-14) went on top 2-0 with two runs in the fifth,

Coby Clark-Dickenson pitched seven innings for Glacier to pick up the win. He allowed eight hits, two runs, struck out five and walked two batters.

Matt Morrison and Nathan Hader closed out the game in relief with brief appearances in the eighth inning. Morrison walked two batters while Hader struck out one and walked one.

The Twins potent attack was limited to seven hits by six different players. Terek Bistodeau was 2 for 4.

Bistodeau, Forrest Kobelt and Veneman all doubled once.

Veneman, Kobelt and Tom Hellwig had one RBI each.

In loser-out play Thursday, it was Laurel Dodgers 14, Tri-County Cardinals 3 and Miles City Mavericks 6, Lewistown Redbirds 5.

In Thursday’s late winners bracket contest, the Bitterroot Red Sox blanked the Belgrade Bandits 11-0.

The Twins face the Red Sox tonight at 7 in a battle of the tournament’s two unbeaten teams.

State play ends Sunday. Glacier has won 17 straight.
