Butte man killed in head-on crash in Polson
A 38-year-old man from Butte was killed in a two-vehicle head-on crash Friday evening in Polson.
According to information from Montana Highway Patrol, drug use and excessive speed were believed to be factors in the crash. None of the three people involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.
A MHP representative said the man that was killed was driving a Ford Mustang south on Kerr Dam Road when he passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone. After making the pass, the vehicle then drifted into the northbound lane and struck a Chrysler Town Car, driven by a 61-year-old Polson woman.
The Butte man was thrown from the car and pronounced dead at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson. A 36-year-old Pablo woman, who was a passenger in the Mustang, was seriously injured and was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
The Polson woman also suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.
According to Montana Highway Patrol, the fatality was the 105th in the state this year.
