Legion Baseball Glacier Twins bury Burley at regional tourney
LEWISTON, Idaho — Zach Veneman went the distance on the mound and brother Ryan Veneman went 4 for 5 and drove in two runs from his leadoff spot in the lineup for the Glacier Twins in a 12-2 victory over the Burley (Idaho) Green Sox on Saturday in winners bracket play at the American Legion Northwest Class A Regional Baseball Tournament.
It was the second day in a row the Twins won by a 12-2 count.
Glacier had 14 hits, jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and put the game away with an eight-run sixth inning.
Coby Clark-Dickenson, 3 for 4, doubled twice and drove in two runs.
Ryan Veneman, who doubled, Tom Hellwig and Jack Schwaiger also had two RBIs each.
Hellwig and Terek Bistodeau were 2 for 4.
Seven Twins batters had hits.
Zach Veneman allowed five singles, struck out five and walked three batters. Of his 74 pitches, 44 were strikes.
Glacier (40-15) is back in action tonight at 6 (PDT).
