The Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theater invites students in grades 2 through 12 to audition Tuesday, Sept. 4, for the cast of the classic Disney musical “Mary Poppins” at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts.

Audition times are 4 to 5 p.m. for grades 2-3; 5 to 6 p.m. for grades 4-7; and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for grades 8-12. Please prepare a 30-second monologue. Following the monologues the auditionees will get on stage and try several different things.

“We will probably learn a part to a song and who knows what else. Plan to stay the entire time and be prepared to try new things,” Associate Producer Brach Thompson said. “We will be casting around 50 people, but we are also looking for extra help backstage and with several technical areas for the productions. If you are cast, rehearsals will begin on Wednesday, the following day, Sept 5.

Performances are Sept. 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30.

Your favorite “practically perfect” nanny takes center stage in this“Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” adventure based one of the most popular Disney movies of all time and the Broadway musical that played for over 2,500 performances and received multiple Tony Awards nominations.

The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “anything can happen if you let it.”
