History Book Club meets in Kalispell Sept. 5

The History Book Club will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Museum at Central School, 124 Second Ave. E. During this year the club will meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 2 p.m. The public is invited.

The group will be discussing “The Oregon Trail, A New American Journey,” by Rinker Buck. This book is the story of the author’s recent wagon and mule journey following the Oregon Trail as closely as possible. The book is interspersed with actual pioneer descriptions from diaries and letters that correspond with the section of trail he is traveling, giving an interesting contrast with trail conditions in the 1800s. The reader ends up with an enjoyable modern-day travelogue, as well as a thorough history lesson covering all aspects of traveling the Oregon Trail.

The book is available through the library system. For questions call Diane at 752-0204.
