Berton “Bert” Henry Baldauf, 65

Berton “Bert” Henry Baldauf, 65, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018 at his home in Somers.

Bert was born on Oct. 21, 1953, in Kalispell to Henry and Doloris (Hissong) Baldauf Sr.

Bert attended elementary and middle school in Somers and went on to attend and graduate from Flathead High School. Bert married the love of his life, Joy Pierson, at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Kalispell on April 27, 1975. He started his career as a vehicle mechanic working in his dad’s shop, transitioning into autobody repair which carried him and the family to Conrad. Bert drove school bus all throughout his life until he retired due to his many illnesses.

Bert was very active in his communities serving on the Somers, Evergreen and Conrad Fire Departments, as well as was an active member of Eidsvold Lutheran Church. Bert enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, watching John Wayne movies, but most of all, spending time with his family. Family was his leading life force.

Bert was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Jenny Lee Baldauf; sister, Lynn McHenry; father, Henry Baldauf Sr.; and grandparents, Rudolph and Paula Baldauf, and Roy and Florence Hissong.

Bert is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Joy Baldauf; their children, Loralee and (Tom) Dalton, Brandon and (Jeana) Baldauf, and Darcy and (Tim) Engebretson; grandchildren, Michael and Gracey Dalton, James Baldauf, Logan Rogers, Matthew Dalton, Kyler Baldauf, Gavin Baldauf and Emma Rogers; great-grandchildren, Dartagnan and Eloise Dalton; his mother, Doloris Baldauf; and brother, Henry and Janet Baldauf Jr.; and close and dear friends, Steve and Kathy Kleinjans.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Somers.
