Bear spray aimed at dog ends up on boy's face
A man deployed bear spray at a dog that purportedly charged at him. Things went awry when the wind carried the spray into the face of a 6-year-old who was standing around the corner of a camper on Montana 40 in Columbia Falls. And, it turns out, the dog was on a chain. The man did not want to pursue vicious dog charges and the dog’s owner believed his son getting sprayed was an accident. The dog’s owner was advised on county ordinances regarding vicious dogs, rabies and licensing, according to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.
A Lakeside man’s ex allegedly threatened him with “street justice” in a dispute over child-support payments.
A woman on Wagner Road in Coram was suspicious of a car parked at the top of her driveway that left when she drove up, then followed her slowly and stopped. The other driver was reportedly waiting for a friend and had parked at the incorrect address.
Someone on Cottonwood Drive in Kalispell allegedly heard someone screaming “help me,” but couldn’t see anything.
Someone on U.S. 93 in Whitefish claimed they had been “chatting with some girl” and she was now trying to extort $25,000 from them by threatening to post a video of them on social media.
A log splitter valued at $2,000 was reported stolen on U.S. 2 in Columbia Falls.
A Country Way resident in Kalispell was concerned that drivers were reportedly using the road as a cut-across and were speeding when people are walking in the area.
A Lakeside resident gave her Social Security number to someone with a foreign accent who allegedly told her she was going to jail if she didn’t. Deputies told her to contact a fraud hotline.
A later call came in from someone in Whitefish who reportedly purchased $4,000 of “Google cards” for people who said he had a warrant. The man was given a hotline to report the scam, but he wanted to speak to a deputy to confirm he didn’t have a warrant and didn’t need to appear in court tomorrow.
Someone on Stoner Loop in Lakeside said three youths vandalized the “internal part” of a building and attempted to start a fire in a trashcan over the weekend.
On U.S. 2 in Kalispell someone found an envelope with crystals in it, possibly methamphetamine.
A burglary was reportedly caught on video of two people kicking in a door, stealing a dog and possibly food on Central Avenue in Martin City.
A property war may be going on between former partners in the construction industry when a man on Central Avenue told the Whitefish Police Department that another man had a subcontractor reportedly take down barricades he had put up surrounding his property, in order to park a crane.
Someone was suspicious of the actions of men sitting in a SUV on Seventh Street because they were allegedly “pushing buttons and going through the visor like they don’t know how to run the vehicle.”
At least two calls came in to report a man on Lakeshore Drive who was lying on the ground near a ditch with his arms spread out. Medical personnel arrived on the scene. Apparently, he was just resting.
A counselor on Talbot Road told Columbia Falls Police Department that several females have reported a 22-year-old man was “trolling” them on social media and trying to get them to send pictures in addition to making inappropriate remarks.
Someone on Diane Road called police to report a baby screaming and people allegedly running up and down halls for a few hours and that it was an ongoing issue. The person didn’t want to be contacted by police, but just wanted them to quiet down.
Another call came in on Diane Road where someone allegedly heard a woman say, “you broke my nose” and a man say, “give me the phone,” and could hear them fighting and banging on the walls. Police spoke with the parties involved and the incident was deemed verbal only.
