Fast start leads Wildkats over Bigfork
BIGFORK – Columbia Falls scored 30 points in the first quarter on its way to a 78-47 victory over Bigofrk in nonconference girls basketball on Thursday at Bigfork High School.
“Our kids were aggressive from the start,” Columbia Falls coach Cary Finberg said, adding that a lot of the scoring in the first quarter “was because of our defense.”
Ryley Kehr led all scorers with 21, while Trista Cowen had 20 points and 14 rebounds for the Wildkats.
Emma Berreth scored 15 for the Valkyries.
Columbia Falls is in action today against Ronan, and Bigfork resumes play on Jan. 5 at Deer Lodge.

Polson rallied from an early deficit but ultimately fell to the Broncs in Western A basketball action on Thursday in Frenchtown.
Frenchtown outscored the Pirates 26-8 in the first quarter. The Pirates came from behind to take a 40-36 lead at the end of the third, but the Broncs reclaimed the lead in the fourth.
Frenchtown’s Cade Baker led all scorers with 21, while Polson’s Colton Graham had 19. Micah Askan added 11 for the Pirates.
