Kalispell Public Schools is seeking to fill a school board vacancy representing the elementary district.

The seat was vacated by Frank Miller, who stepped down because he will be moving outside of elementary district boundaries. Miller has served on the school board for nearly seven years.

Eligible candidates must be registered voters living within elementary district boundaries. The elementary district includes Edgerton, Elrod, Hedges, Peterson, Rankin and Russell elementary schools in addition to Kalispell Middle School. Elementary trustees vote on elementary and high school issues. The person selected to the board will serve until the May 2019 election.

Trustees are volunteers responsible for making decisions that impact how schools operate. Duties may include adopting policies and budgets, managing the collective bargaining process, setting achievement goals and holding schools accountable.

People interested in serving may submit a letter of interest to Beth Kornick, administrative assistant to the superintendent, by email at kornickb@sd5.k12.mt.us, or mail to KPS District 5, 233 First Ave. E., Kalispell, MT 59901. Letters must be received by the school district on Jan 11.

Interviews will be scheduled with eligible candidates before a selection is made.

For more information call Kornick at 751-3434.
