Will Montana's 'mountain morons' prevail over self-appointed 'enlightened elites'?
The Democrat left once characterized itself as “liberal.” But that was a complete misnomer because the classical meaning of “liberal” is being “open minded.” And the American Left is certainly not that. It’s hopelessly intolerant of anyone or anything that doesn’t conform to its rigid left-wing orthodoxy.
So the Democratic Party had a major PR problem. But it was never going to change its views. So it simply replaced “liberal” with a new word — “progressive” while becoming ever more radical and extreme. The root of “progressive” or “progressivism” is, of course, “progress.” But progress toward what? Left-wing Democrats would likely answer “equality,” especially in regard to wealth redistribution. But the real so-called “progress” that forms the very heart of the left’s secret scheme is actually the slow but inexorable movement away from protecting the individual and individual liberty, as established by our Founding Fathers and, instead, a relentless militant march toward a collective (as in communism) ruled according to Rousseau’s “general will.”
Leftist Democrats believe that ordinary citizens simply do not have the capacity to govern themselves. Instead, a small select clique of unelected but enlightened elites should be vested with absolute power to rule over the people. But the left’s disturbing designs were thwarted when Hillary Clinton’s uneducated “irredeemable deplorables” elected Donald Trump in 2016. And, in Montana, some leftists actually called such hapless-dolt Trump voters “Mountain Morons.”
Of course the left and its allies in the media, the unelected “Deep State,” academia and Hollywood rose up in a venomous vitriolic rage, an anger-fueled fury of even violent rebellion, a childishly immature temper tantrum to denounce a result that denied them the result to which they, most presumptively, believed they were somehow rightfully entitled — permanent dictatorial and despotic one party rule.
The left’s Marxist progressivism is not “progress.” Not at all. It is, in truth, malevolent regressionism, which, if left unchecked, will surely lead to our de facto enslavement by a harsh tyrannical state, to the very government oppression that our Founding Fathers so greatly feared.
