A Whitefish man is facing rape charges following the investigation of a child’s diary entry.

Howard Riley Robinson, 25, was booked into the Flathead County Detention Center on a felony charge of sexual intercourse without consent on Friday, Feb. 2.

Last summer, the alleged victim’s siblings found a passage that indicated the child had been sexually assaulted by Robinson when he was 23 and the victim was 11. The victim was allegedly staying at a relative’s house when the incident occurred. A forensic interview reportedly confirmed what was found in the diary. According to the police report, the child advised similar incidents had occurred at least three times. The police report also stated the victim’s parents caught Robinson asking for photos of the child’s body through a text.

The case will be seen in Flathead County before Judge Heidi J. Ulbricht. If he is convicted, Robinson could face up to the maximum of 100 years with no parole for at least 10 years.
