Bigfork Playhouse seeks actors for musical

| February 15, 2018 9:43 AM

The Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theater invites students in grades 5 through 12 to audition, Tuesday, Feb. 20, for the cast of the hit Disney musical “High School Musical.”

“High School Musical on Stage!” centers around the blossoming relationship between Troy, a high school jock, and Gabriella, the new smart girl at school. They meet on a family vacation and become attracted to each other while singing in a karaoke competition. Rediscovering each other at school, their relationship and their surprise decision to audition together for the spring musical are thwarted by the school’s current leading lady, Sharpay, and Troy and Gabriella’s well-meaning friends.

Auditions will be held at the Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre Afterschool Center located at 833 Grand Dr. on Feb. 20 from 4:30-6 p.m. for fifth- and sixth-graders, and from 6-8 p.m. for grades 7 through 12.

This production calls for a large cast, including more than 15 feature roles with a medium-sized chorus. The audition process is free, however there is a $40 participation fee to be a part of the show if cast. Actors are asked to prepare a 30-second monologue or short selection from another play or book, and be prepared to learn and sing something at the audition. Materials will be available for those who need them and comfortable shoes are recommended.

For those who would like to be involved but are not interested in being on stage, contact the theater. The Playhouse needs help with the technical aspects of production such as building sets, props, costumes, lights and sound. To sign up and for more information, call 837-4886, email bpct@bigforksummerplayhouse.com or visit the theater’s website at www.bigforksummerplayhouse.com.
