Lake County Search and Rescue teams on Monday were looking for a Polson man who went missing over the weekend near the SKQ Dam in Polson.

Kyle Butterhof, 26, was last seen Friday, according to his family.

Cindy Bellick described her son as having Asperger’s syndrome and “is high functioning autism.” Bellik, also of Polson, confirmed that her son was “suicidal” on Friday when he was last seen.

Butterhof is 5-6 and weighs 125 pounds. He has light brown hair and blue eyes.

Lake County Sheriff Don Bell said that Butterhof’s car was found parked at SKQ Dam just outside of Polson over the weekend. The sheriff called Lake County Search and Rescue to help locate Butterhof.

Lake County Search and Rescue President Jared Bell, who was on location Monday morning, confirmed that rescue crews will continue to look for Butterhof until he’s found.

“We have snowmobiles and will have three drones here flying. Right now we are searching all the gullies, trees and we’re doing tracking on the age-appropriate snow,” Jared Bell said.

He added that the search and rescue team has snowmobiles ready to be utilized, as well.

Sheriff Bell said that as crews continue to search, Butterhof’s car is staying at the scene, so that he can go back to it for shelter until first responders locate him. Anyone with information should call Lake County Dispatch at (406) 883-7301.
