Flathead County Commissioner Pam Holmquist will lead the commission as chairwoman during 2018, the commissioners decided Tuesday. Commissioner Phil Mitchell will serve as vice chairman.

Holmquist takes the reigns from Commissioner Gary Krueger, who served as chairman in 2017. The chair conducts the scheduled commissioner proceedings, with the duty rotating annually.

The commissioners largely kept their same committee and board assignments, with one exception. Mitchell will step down from attending Flathead Basin Commission meetings and Krueger will assume that assignment.

Holmquist’s assignments include the Agency on Aging, Audit Committee, Compensation Board, Fair Board, City-County Health Board, Flathead River Commission, Montana Coalition of Forest Counties and Montana West Economic Development.

Mitchell serves on the 911 Board, Child Development Center Board, Compensation Board, DUI Task Force/Safe Kids Safe Community Coalition, Flathead County Economic Development Authority, Flathead County Chemical Dependency Clinic, Technical Advisory Committee and Western Montana Regional Mental Health Board.

Krueger’s assignments include the Compensation Board, Flathead Basin Commission, Local Emergency Planning Committee, Resource Advisory Committee, Solid Waste District Board, Transportation Advisory Board and Western Montana Regional Juvenile Detention Board.
