Doris Ann (Ashley) Field, 82

Doris Ann (Ashley) Field, 82, of Whitefish, died Thursday, Jan.11, 2018, in a car accident.

She was born on Sept. 12, 1935, in Janesville, Wisconsin, to parents Charles and Berenice Ashley. Doris graduated from Rockford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1957 and found operating room nursing to be her passion.

Dec. 21, 1957, brought about her marriage to Richard Field of Janesville, Wisconsin. Together they raised two children, Lesia and Rick.

Doris was a devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother. In 1979 Doris and Richard moved to Whitefish where she worked in the local hospital as a registered nurse until her retirement in 1999.

Her devotion and caring nature extended beyond the surgical nursing into her passion for quilting, golf, and spending time with her family and friends. Doris loved the beauty and grandeur of Glacier National Park.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Field; her sister and brother-in-law, Bette and Larry Brown; her children, Lesia Hatlestad (Dan) and Rick Field (Kimberly), and grandson Erik Hatlestad.

She was preceded in death by sister Susan, niece Jody, and nephew Charles.

All are invited to attend Doris’ celebration of life at 11 a.m. on Jan. 20 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 201 Wisconsin Ave., Whitefish, MT 59937. All of her family, friends and colleagues are invited to attend a reception at the church following the celebration and an open house after the reception at the family home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Whitefish.
