Impatient truck driver gets too close

A driver was reportedly insulted by a truck driver for going too slow in downtown Whitefish, according to a report received by the Whitefish Police Department. The driver had stopped for a light near city hall when a man driving a log truck got out of his own vehicle and banged on the window and started calling names. The reporting party didn’t want to file charges, but thought the truck driver would probably benefit from having a talk with an officer.

In another traffic-related incident, a Chevy Silverado truck reportedly sideswiped another vehicle at East Seventh Street. The victim was able to get a partial license number, and the other vehicle was located. It was determined by officers that the case did not qualify as a hit-and-run and damage was less than $1,000.

Two men were “counseled” by an officer after it was determined they might be throwing snow and ice from the roof of the parking garage downtown at passing vehicles.

A man dressed entirely in black clothing was spotted “casing the neighborhood” around Cedar Street and Texas Avenue. The man was observed by a neighbor walking up to windows and doors in the area. When police arrived on the scene, they pursued the man by foot and eventually detained him.

A woman told Kalispell Police that her cellphone had gone missing at a downtown bar and had been turned in by the next morning. Trouble was that the woman said she saw that ll “dirty pics” of herself were shared to a Google Drive. She gave police the name of a suspect.

Someone thought it looked like a man was beating a woman when she was hanging upside down out of the window of an SUV, but police determined the subjects were just “playing around.”

Columbia Falls Fire Department responded to a structure fire on U.S. 2 East.

Kalispell Fire Department responded to a chimney fire on Eighth Street West.

Hit-and-run accidents were reported on Cally Lane in Kalispell and East Seventh Street in Whitefish.
