Bravettes edge Eagles in Western AA clash

MISSOULA — Mary Heaton and Clara Vandenbosch each turned in big performances to help give Flathead a halftime lead, and the Bravettes held on in the second half to pick up a 46-44 victory over Missoula Big Sky on Wednesday in Western AA conference play.

It was the first conference win of the year for Flathead.

Heaton poured in 18 points, Vandenbosch added 15 and Maddie Walters chipped in eight points.

The Bravettes held a 29-20 lead at the half and maintained it despite a tumultuous third quarter.

Sam Elliott, Anthony Jones and Tyler Johnson all scored in double digits, contributing to a balanced offensive effort in Flathead’s blowout win over Missoula Big Sky in a Western AA contest.

Elliott led the way in both scoring and rebounding, tallying 17 points and eight boards.

Jones added 13 on an efficient 6 for 9 shooting, and Johnson scored 10.

Eric Seaman chipped in nine points and paced Flathead with nine assists.

The Braves overcame a rebounding deficit by forcing 22 turnovers. They led 37-24 at halftime.

Hamilton 64, Polson 48

HAMILTON — Hamilton led wire-to-wire in a comfortable, nonconference win over Polson.

The Broncs led 19-10 after the first quarter and never looked back.

Connor Lanier and Shade Main each scored 14 in the Pirates’ losing effort.

Tanner Goligoski paced Hamilton with 21, while Carter Kearns and Hunter Omlid chipped in 15 apiece.
