Eureka stays atop Class B mat rankings

Eureka maintained its top spot in the Class B/C wrestling poll after running away from the competition last weekend at the Class B/C Duals in Great Falls.

Five individuals represented the Lions in the poll, all of whom were ranked in the top 3 of their respective weight classes.

Jonathan Schmidt (160 pounds) and Garrett Graves (182) were ranked first, Gunner Smith (113) and Nathan Schmidt (120) were second and Hank Dunn (132) was third.

Bigfork’s Logan Kaminsky was ranked second at 205 pounds.

The same four local teams remained in the top 10 of the Class A coaches poll, but in different spots.

Polson dropped from fourth to fifth place and Columbia Falls rose to seventh from eighth despite the Pirates beating the Wildcats in a dual on Tuesday.

Ronan leapfrogged Columbia Falls and found itself in sixth position, while Libby held pat at No. 10.

Polson led all Class A area teams with nine ranked individuals, including top-ranked Parker Adler at 152.
