Betty Lou Norris

| July 1, 2018 2:00 AM

Betty Lou Norris, mother, grandmother and friend, “took her Savior’s hand” and passed away peacefully on Jan. 9, 2018, in Portland. Her beautiful spirit is no longer bound in a tired and broken body. Her smile, love and laughter will forever be missed and now memories in our hearts.

She was blessed by her children Linda Corrigan, William “Bill” and Sandy Norris, Janice and Dan Vachal, and Jeri and David Truckner; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Danna Effie Norris, her parents William “Bill” Bosley and Elizabeth Stephenson; and her siblings, Dean Corbett, Arlene Lapp, Robert “Bob” Bosley, Jerry Bosley and Carol Eidy.

She was born in Flathead County and spent most of her life in the Kalispell and Evergreen area, until she moved to Portland in the 1990s.

She was a member of the Evergreen Alliance Church for many years, and then when she moved became a member of the Columbia View Wesleyan Church of Portland. She loved God with all her heart and it showed in her services within both churches.

Betty worked at Eastside Supperette, JCPenney (Main Street Kalispell), and Evergreen and Russell schools. She was a self-taught seamstress and sewed lots of outfits for “her kids,” wedding dresses for her daughters, nieces and numerous other clients; many formals for her granddaughters; gifts of stuffed dolls and animals, and many an alteration. She never turned down a seam to mend, a tuck or two here and there, or a hem. She usually had several projects going at the same time, which as she said many times, “They keep my hands busy.”

Betty’s presence will be missed. In every sunrise and sunset we will know that she is there keeping watch over us and looking down on us with the love that she shared with us.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on July 10 (her birthday), at the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. A gathering will follow at her daughter’s home in Somers.
