Fourth celebrations begin early

July 4 celebrations are blowing up early with multiple calls and citations made across the county for illegal and disruptive fireworks, keeping babies awake during nap time and causing a roucus among neighborhood dogs.

According to a Whitefish Police report, a woman driving a black Lexus was reported for suspicious behavior after circling a neighborhood several times in 15 minutes. Officers determined that the woman was playing Pokemon Go.

A woman reportedly drove her sedan into a power pole, flipping the vehicle onto its top and downing the pole across the road. The woman said she was uninjured but was believed to be intoxicated.

A woman allegedly caught an unknown male in a camouflage clothing smoking under her deck on Baker Avenue. The man allegedly left through the bushes and headed north.

Someone allegedly broke into a man’s garage on Lakeshore Drive and stole multiple items from a car inside.

A female black bear and her cub were reportedly seen crossing U.S. 93 in Whitefish. A passerby allegedly attempted to slow traffic in order to allow the bears to cross safely.

A male bulldog reportedly escaped from his garage on Apsen Grove. The dog’s owner called again later, convinced someone in his neighborhood had stolen the dog and was keeping it from him. The man threatened to use force if the person he suspected had his dog attempted to leave before officers arrived.

According to Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, a man on Somers Stage Road called, threatening to shoot two young brown pit bulls that were allegedly chasing his sheep. The dogs were impounded at the county shelter with a citation for the owner.

A resident of Bierney Creek Road reported her neighbor’s dog for chasing her goats away. The woman decided not to pursue any kind of charges, opting instead to do the “neighborly thing” and talk to her neighbors about the issue when she finished looking for her missing goats.

A resident of Middle Road in Columbia Falls complained of dogs barking in the area, but said his neighbor claimed not to have dogs. The reporting party was unsure of the source of the barking and said it stopped as soon as he called 911 but wanted it to stop permanently.
