Lindholm shares 4th of July golf lead after 36 holes

WHITEFISH — Logan Lindholm of Kalispell shot a 2-under 69 on the South Course during second-day action to move into a tie for the lead at the 82nd annual 4th of July Tournament on Friday at Whitefish Lake Golf Club.

Lindholm sits at 137 after 36 holes.

Andrew Medley of Scottsdale, Arizona, had an even-par round for a 137 total.

Medley led after Thursday’s action on the North Course with his 6-under-66 while Lindholm shot 68 to sit two shots behind.

Medley is looking for his third 4th of July title, having won it in 2012 and 2016.

Robb Bergeson of Billings, a 2007 champ, is third and three shots off the pace with a pair of 70s for 140.

Sean Benson of Billings, 72-69—141, is fourth.

Conor Rooney of Whitefish, 70-72—142, and Cory Mehl of Seattle, 74-68—142, are tied for fifth.

Mehl had the low round on Friday.

Jasi Acharya of Carver, Minnesota, will be looking for a wire-to-wire victory today during the final round of the 54-hole event. She shot a 5-over 77 on the North Course for a six-shot advantage with her 140 total.

Acharya had a seven-shot edge after Thursday’s action.

Stephanie Hurlbert of Magnolia, Texas, used a 1-under 71 to move into a second-place tie with Kylie Esh of Missoula. Both are at 146.

Hurlbert was sixth with a 75 after Thursday’s play.

Tiegan Avery of Kalispell is fourth, 150, and Morgan O’Neil of Laurel is fifth, 153.

The women will play the South Course today with the men on the North Course for the final 18. The leaders, women, will tee off between 1-1:20 p.m. and the men, 1:30-2 p.m.
