Rough day for local car keys

The Kalispell Police Department dealt with two calls regarding people who had locked their keys in their cars, with different outcomes. One involved a person who locked a vehicle with all the medications inside. The vehicle was successfully unlocked. In another, a woman from Washington who locked her keys in her vehicle didn’t like the way the department handled it and decided to try something different.

A person called to report that a Mercedes was parked in a disabled parking spot. The person said that everyone who got out of the car didn’t appear to be disabled.

A woman reported seeing a man that tried to poison her a few weeks ago. She said he gave her a cigarette and it made her pass out shortly after she took a puff. According to dispatch, she is a known drug offender. When an officer spoke to her, the man had left, and she was informed of how to obtain a temporary restraining order.

A caller reported someone took a hammer to his windshield sometime this week while his car was parked at the doctor’s office.

A woman called about three men in a red Mercury sedan who were handing stuff back and forth to each other. She said they were moving stuff into different backpacks and she thought they were involved in drugs. She also saw a machete. A officer did speak to the men in the car and saw a machete attached to a backpack, but there was nothing illegal occurring.

A person reported that their neighbors packed some belongings, departed three days ago and left a small dog in the backyard. It was barking and crying. The person didn’t see any water or food for the dog and was looking to get it some.

A mother reported her 10-year-old son went outside 20 minutes ago and she couldn’t find him. She said the child has done this before. An officer found the boy soon after the call came in and returned him to his mother.

A rooster and a black hen had been hanging out in a caller’s neighborhood for about three days. The person thought they may have been dumped there or jumped out of truck. The caller said the rooster was very loud.

A business owner called to request a man sleeping on the sidewalk next to his building be moved along.

A caller reported a white truck was parked with the door left open. An officer determined the door was left open by accident.

A person reported having a wallet and cell phone stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

A caller reported a scruffy-looking man with a white beard inside the business. The man claimed to be with the business, although he was not. When she called 911, he departed in a small white van.

A person wanted police to do a welfare check after hearing a baby cry for several hours in a nearby apartment. An officer checked and found the tenant didn’t have a baby.

A drunk man in a parking lot was yelling and screaming at customers as they left a business. The man was not welcome in the building, but he said he would be sleeping in his camper in the lot.

A woman who was delivering medication called because the van wouldn’t start while it was parked in a loading zone and she wanted to make sure it wasn’t towed before she could get help.
