Classical musicians present rock-inspired show
On Friday, July 20 at 7 p.m. in the Expo Center at Flathead Fairgrounds, Wai Mizutani, a world renowned violinist will be paying “Tribute to the Legends.” Joining Wai are world-class classical performers, like pianist Wei Pai, and local rock musicians to bring an incredible and unique experience.
These well-versed musicians will captivate listeners with their renditions of music from the greats ranging from The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin to Mozart, Beethoven and many more.
Parking is free. Beer, wine and food will be available for purchase from Blue Samurai at the event. Mizutani, the Juilliard-trained violinist, is originally from China. He has traveled the world performing with world renowned orchestras and racking up lists of recognitions and performances. While in America, Mizutani has played with ensembles of famous artists such as Michael Jackson, Elton John, Michael Buble and Yoyo Ma. He currently teaches at the Flathead Valley Community College. Mizutani not only teaches but he enriches the lives of his many students while giving them real world skills and musicianship to be successful in their musical pursuits. By chance, Mizutani met Wei Pai through his wife, Tsai’ying Li and immediately formed a musical connection.
Pai began playing piano at age six and as a teenager. Wei spent eight years at a Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow, Russia. He has lived up to the highest expectations and standards of Russian trained Pianists winning 2nd prize from the International Mendelssohn Chamber Music Competition in Moscow and the Concerto Competition in 2012. Pai met his wife Tsai Ying Li while they were both attending Illinois University pursuing graduate degrees. Tsai-ying has mastered the French Horn and won 1st prize in the National Solo Horn Competition in Taiwan.
Pai and Tsa yingi, along with local artists, will join Mizutani to provide an instrumental rendition to pay “Tribute To the Legends.”
Remastering music from the Legends is no easy task, however, listeners will be elegantly transported to memories of when they first connected to the melody of each song. Attendees will get a chance to relive those great memories by listening to a beloved list of all-time favorite songs.
