A Whitefish man accused of killing his father in a July 9 altercation in Whitefish had his initial court appearance Thursday in front of Flathead District Court Judge Dan Wilson.

Tanner Lehnen Hosek, 26, is lodged in the Flathead County Jail on $300,000 bail as he faces a felony count of deliberate homicide. Hosek is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, July 19, according to a court official.

Hosek stands accused of stabbing his father, Eric Kevin Hosek, 65, during a fight in front of their home on Wilderness Lane.

According to information from Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry, deputies found Eric Hosek dead with multiple stab wounds. Also present on the scene was Tanner, who lived at the residence.

Court documents indicate Tanner was previously diagnosed with schizophrenia and his parents, Eric and Linda Hosek, were appointed his co-guardians in August 2015 to help care for him.
