The Kalispell City Council is meeting Monday evening at 7 p.m. in city hall to vote on whether or not to give final approval on a two-lot commercial subdivision at the north end of town where Silverbrook meets Church Drive.

Developer WGM Group is hoping to split 4.48-acre parcel into two separate lots of 1.43 acres and 1.4 acres. The additional space would be dedicated to open space. The parcel is owned by Kalispell-based Silvermont Properties, LLLP.

The council had approved preliminary plans for the subdivision at a meeting back in January of 2016. All of the conditions the council attached to the preliminary approval have been met or otherwise adequately addressed, according to a report from the Kalispell Planning Department staff. In the same report, staff recommended the council approve the final plans for the project.

Here are the other items the council will consider at their Monday evening meeting:

• The council will also vote on whether or not to give final approval to plans for a three-lot residential subdivision on a 0.615-acre tract of land located at the end of Mile High Court on the southwest end of town near the U.S. 93 bypass. The developer is Skadi Properties, LLC. Planning department staff have recommended the council approve the project.

• Another vote will be held on a resolution scheduling a public hearing for August 20 to give residents a chance to lobby an opinion on the water facility plan, which will establish future management plans for the city’s water infrastructure, including maintenance and capital improvements.

• The council will also vote on a memorandum of understanding that states they will reimburse the Flathead County Economic Development Authority for part of the costs they incurred during their administrative work on the Glacier Rail Park. The rail park will be the new railway hub for the city, allowing the tracks through town to be removed and replaced with a pedestrian and bike trail. Businesses that rely on the tracks are moving from the central part of town to the new rail park, which is just off Whitefish Stage Road near where it passes over the Flathead River about a half mile from U.S. 2.

The council will hold working sessions at 7 p.m. on July 23 and July 30. The next regular city council meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Aug. 6. All meetings will be held in the council chambers in Kalispell City Hall.
