Commercial subdivision OK'd at Silverbrook
Kalispell City Council on Monday gave final approval to a two-lot commercial subdivision at the north end of the city where Silverbrook meets Church Drive.
The project received unanimous support after a short presentation from senior planner Jared Nygren.
Developer WGM Group is splitting a 4.48-acre parcel into two lots of 1.43 acres and 1.4 acres. The additional acreage would be dedicated to open space. The parcel is owned by Kalispell-based Silvermont Properties, LLLP.
The council had approved preliminary plans for the subdivision in January 2016.
Also on Monday:
- The council also approved final plans for a three-lot residential subdivision on a 0.615-acre tract of land located at the end of Mile High Court on the southwest end of town near the U.S. 93 bypass. The developer is Skadi Properties, LLC.
- The council passed a resolution scheduling a public hearing for Aug. 20 on management plans for the city’s water infrastructure, including maintenance and capital improvements.
- The council also voted to endorse a memorandum of understanding that states they will reimburse the Flathead County Economic Development Authority for part of the costs they incurred during their administrative work on the Glacier Rail Park. The rail park will be the new railway hub for the city, allowing the tracks through downtown to be removed and replaced with a pedestrian and bike trail. Businesses that rely on the tracks are moving from the central part of town to the new rail park off Whitefish Stage. Mayor Mark Johnson noted during the meeting that this was a step they knew was coming for much of the five-year life of the project.
