| July 18, 2018 2:00 AM

Daisy Shoemaker, 84, died July 15, 2018 at Prestige Assisted Living in Kalispell. Her memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. this Saturday, July 21, at Central Christian Church in Kalispell. Internment will follow the memorial service at Creston Cemetery.

Daisy was born Oct. 17, 1933, in Rollins to Angie Elsass and Harris E. Weaver. She was part of a large, loving family. Her early education was in a one-room schoolhouse in Rollins. Daisy graduated from Polson High School in 1951.

Daisy worked as a window dresser at Woolworth’s department store in Kalispell. She met and eventually married Stanley Shoemaker on May 9, 1954. They left Montana so Stan could work in the shipyards in Bremerton, Washington. That is where they started their family with Steve in 1955. They returned to Montana to live and resided in the Flathead Valley the rest of their lives. Two more children joined the family, Gary in 1957, and Kathy in 1959. Daisy was a stay-at-home mom until she went to work for the county in the elections department and then in the plat room. She retired in 1996.

Daisy was a consummate hostess. She loved family gatherings and church gatherings. Her hobbies included knitting and baking. Many family members will tell you she made the “best” ginger cream frosted cookies! Two places that she loved with all of her heart were the family log cabin at Ashley Lake (designed and built by Stan) and the Oregon Coast.

She was a longtime member of the Central Christian Church in Kalispell.

Daisy’s family meant the world to her! Her face would light up whenever her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren came to visit.

Daisy was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Shoemaker. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Les Tinseth; sister-in-law, Shirley Weaver; sister-in-law, Jan Weaver; and sister-in-law, Carol Vars; her children and spouses, Steve and Lynn Shoemaker, Gary Shoemaker and Tamalyn Kralman, and Kathy and Joe Behrends; grandchildren, Barb and Andy McVicker, Zachary and Megan Shoemaker, Angie and Aidan Foshay, Sarah Behrends, Becky Shoemaker, Brett Kralman-Shoemaker and Peter Behrends; and great-grandchildren Daegan, Dunham, Gibson, Asher, Ben, Emmett and Rowan; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at Central Christian Church in Kalispell. A committal service will follow at 11:45 a.m. at Creston Cemetery.
