County sells Kalispell Senior Center
After two failed attempts to auction the former Kalispell Senior Center, the Flathead County commissioners finally got a buyer at a public auction Tuesday.
Ren Xinwu of RRR International LLC, who listed a Kalispell address, purchased the property for $279,000, well above the county’s reduced minimum sale price of $182,000.
Xinwu and several other bidders vied for the property, which includes the former senior-center facility on a corner lot at 403 Second Ave. W., plus an older home and accessory building at 411 and 411 1/2 Second Ave. W.
The second-highest bidders were Chet and Corrine Todd.
The commissioners directed Deputy County Attorney David Randall to get information from the Todds as well Xinwu, in the event the agreement with the highest bidder falls through.
The properties owned by the county were appraised last year with a market value of $450,000, so the commissioners were bound by a minimum price of $315,000. A new appraisal of $160,000 reflected the improvements that would be needed to bring the buildings up to code. The property was sold as-is.
