HAMILTON — The four-day break between the end of the regular season and the start of West A District Tournament play had little effect on top-seed Glacier Twins.

Coby Clark-Dickenson doubled (third inning), homered (first) and drove in four runs as the Twins whipped the Libby Loggers 13-3 in an American Legion baseball game shortened to five innings by the run rule.

Glacier tallied three runs in the first inning, two in the second, five in the third and closed with three runs in the bottom of the fifth.

The Twins, winners of 12 straight, pounded out 17 hits.

Tom Hellwig, 4 for 4, Clark-Dickenson, 3 for 4, and Terek Bistodeau, 3 for 3, powered the explosive attack. The Twins have scored 10 or more runs in 11 of their last 14 games.

Bistodeau and Ryan Veneman had two RBIs each.

Doubling for Glacier were Dan Seymour and Veneman. Hellwig and Bistodeu had triples.

Zach Veneman pitched the first four innings to get the win. He allowed six hits, struck out four and walked three.

The Loggers scattered six hits. C. Williams was 2 for 3 and doubled.

Shayne Walker and Tim Carvey also doubled for Libby.

“We did everything but run the bases well,” Twins coach Scott Murray said.

“Zach Veneman pitched very well.

“It was a really good (start) for us,” Murray added. “Libby had the bases loaded twice and couldn’t come, through. It could have been a little closer than it was.”

The Twins play Mission Valley today at 4 p.m.

Libby and Kalispell take the field at 10 a.m. in loser-out play.

The tournament ends Sunday. The top two teams advance to state play in Miles City Aug. 1-5.
