Achy jakey brakes cause commotion

“It’s extremely loud and annoying,” a caller to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office said about a tractor trailer using its jake brakes extensively while hauling rock.

A woman said she and her child were kicked out of their home by the baby’s father. She wanted to know how he could do that, but she was not on the lease.

Someone reported a woman smoking meth in a Lincoln Navigator while a child was inside the vehicle.

A woman wearing a cowboy hat and driving a black Ford Explorer was reportedly driving drunk and nearly hit five vehicles head-on on U.S. 2 near Columbia Falls, according to one caller.

Someone reported a man lying on the lawn of a church in Columbia Falls. After an officer spoke with him, he moved along.

A man called when he thought his new neighbors were trying to dig an illegal sewer line. He then yelled at them and drove to the end of the driveway to try and get a plate number. Allegedly, the driver tried to hit the caller. When an officer spoke to the driver in the truck, he said he was just trying to fix a broken water line. The man trying to fix the line said he had trouble with the caller standing naked and looking into his backyard. An officer mediated the dispute, for the time being.

A person driving on U.S. 2 near Glacier Park International Airport reported a topper had fallen off a darker-colored truck and left glass and lumber all over the road.

A free-range pit bull was jailed by the Kalispell Police Department after it walked into a person’s home and urinated. Further investigation revealed the dog’s name may be “Boo” and had been jailed before because its human wasn’t taking care of it.

Someone reported that a blonde-haired woman driving a purple Subaru Outback was slamming on the brakes, flipping people off and not paying attention to traffic as she drove south on U.S. 93. An officer soon pulled her over.

A woman reported being slammed to the ground by her drunk husband after he went ballistic. She said he left and she was going to go stay with a friend.

A call about a shoplifting incident at an area store led to the arrest of a woman who had placed several items in a cooler and walked out.

A gray schnauzer dog was taken to the county animal shelter after it was found limping. It didn’t have a collar and was very thin.

A woman called 911 after she awoke to the sound of someone on her deck. Her husband spoke to a neighbor who said there had been several break-ins near where they lived. A Whitefish Police Department officer spoke to the couple and told them to report any future suspicious behavior.

A caller said fireworks woke her up. An officer told one of the people shooting them off that if it happened again, he’d be cited.

A man was out on the deck with his wife when he saw a man peeing on a tree on the golf course. He yelled at the man and one of the people in his group yelled back. That prompted a call to authorities. An officer later identified the man; he was warned about his behavior.
