Seven stubborn mules seek greener pastures

Several people called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to report a bunch of mules on the run on Farm to Market Road. They had broken though a fence and one woman ended up with seven of them in her driveway. One of the people who called said she tried to corral them, but they were too stubborn.

An adult Springer Spaniel was taken into custody after a woman called to report that the dog killed a chicken and then chasing her and her kids. The canine is lodged in the county animal shelter pending further disposition of its case.

A 6-year-old boy’s sister was looking out for her sibling after he apparently swallowed a bead button. She was scared and called 911. The children’s mother arrived home while she was on the line with a dispatcher and said the boy was fine.

A woman called to report her intoxicated boyfriend was trying to get into the residence where they lived. He was later taken to a motel for the night.

A man who struck a deer on U.S. 93 near his home said he would “limp” his car home on the shoulder.

A man called to report a pack of dogs belonging to a bar owner that attacked his cat. He said he didn’t witness the alleged attack, but assumed it was the dogs because he had trouble in the past with them.

A man called to report he was tired of cleaning up after a neighbor’s cats, as many as 15. He said the neighbor lets them roam free and they spray the kid’s things. An officer told the man there was no county ordinance that deals with cats.

A person called the Kalispell Police Department to report a suspicious man at an area school. It turned out the man was hired by the school to check the grounds and he was locking up.

A woman took off running when an officer arrived to check a trespass incident. The officer spoke to her boyfriend, who said he would explain trespassing to her, and they would move along.

Someone called to report a man sitting next to the deli drinking a beer that he apparently took off the shelf. The person also said he had other items in his backpack that he took from the second aisle. A computer check revealed he had two warrants, one each for Kalispell and for Flathead County. He was taken into custody.

A person called to report a woman wearing blue jeans and a white sweater had jumped behind a dumpster. She then headed south in the alley. The person said the woman was acting like she was going into someone’s driveway, then ran to the next one. The person thought she might be on something. She disappeared and an officer was unable to locate her.

A customer called to report a panhandler who was approaching people as they left a store. She said she thought it was illegal to panhandle. An officer left a message with the store manager to see if he wanted anything done.

A school official called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report a disorderly subject. The person was gone when an officer arrived, but the person was on probation and the officer was going to contact the probation officer.

A security guard called to report a female teenager wanted to stay with her grandma because she was upset with her parents who were arguing. An officer spoke to the parents who said it was OK for her to stay with grandma for the night.
