Big sixth inning lifts Lakers AA

The Kalispell Lakers AA used a five-run sixth inning to break a 2-all tie and pull away for an 8-2 nonconference American Legion baseball victory over the Libby Loggers A on Wednesday evening at Griffin Field.
Libby held a 2-0 lead after three inning while the Lakers scored once in the fourth and fifth to tie it up.
Kalispell added a run in the bottom of the sixth.
Sam Elliott, 1 for 3, drove in three runs for the Lakers. Johan Freudenburg, 1 for 2, had two RBIs and Randy Stultz went 2 for 5.
Kalispell chalked up nine hits to six for Libby.
Garrett Gollohon, 2 for 4, led the Logger offensive attack. Quade Anderson and Tim Carvey both doubled for Libby.
Starting pitcher Evan Todd picked up the victory. He went 6 2/3 innings, allowing three hits, walking four and striking out nine.
Carvey took the loss. He lasted 5 1/3 innings. He allowed eight hits, walked a batter and fanned four.
The Lakers host Medicine Hat, Alberta, AA on Saturday for a conference doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
Libby’s Dinner on the Diamond is Friday at 6:05 p.m. The Loggers’ Seattle Trip follows June 12-15. They host the Bitterroot Bucs on June 16 for a conference doubleheader.
