Eureka pitcher Escobar earns B-C all-state softball honors
Avory Escobar of Eureka has been named to the Class B-C All-State and All-Western Division first team for softball in balloting by league coaches.
Escobar, a sophomore, was the Lions top pitcher this spring. She hit in the No. 3 spot in the batting order all season long and had a batting average of .518.
She led Eureka in home runs with five and in extra-base hits with 17 and was second on the team in RBIs with 32.
Escobar earned second team all-Western Division mention last season as a freshman.
Eureka advanced to state for the second time in school history in 2018. The Lions were 1-2 at state.
State champion Florence-Carlton had the most first team all-state and all-division selections with four.
Missoula Loyola, which finished third, had two first team all-state picks.
Eureka’s Bailey Bishop and Troy’s Kaylee Tunison and Cammi Finley were named to the all-Western Division second team.
