Transients cause kerfuffle over gazebo

A person was unable to enjoy a family luncheon because of transients sitting in a gazebo. The person felt that transients shouldn’t be able to use the gazebo because they didn’t help to pay for its construction.

A person called the Whitefish Police Department to report an irate woman who came into a salon and wasn’t happy with the services that were provided to her. The caller and a client of hers were scared, but the woman walked out when she called 911.

Someone called to report an old man who was sitting in a van, smoking a cigarette and staring at a playground. The caller said the van windows were covered with curtains.

Someone called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report a child who was locked in the bathroom. Apparently another child had somehow locked the door. The person eventually got the door open and everyone turned out to be fine.

A person called to report a free-roaming, but friendly, pit bull catching balls in the baseball field near the school. The dog was taken to the county animal shelter.

Someone called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to report seeing six people in the back of a black GMC Sierra with bags over their heads. The vehicle apparently didn’t have any license plates and was last seen on U.S. 93.

A man called to ask about capturing stray cats and if there was a fee to bring them to the county animal shelter.

A person called to report that someone stole stacks of tin and lumber from her property. When an officer spoke to the woman, she said it was the former property owner who came and took the items.

A woman called to report her neighbor’s dog was hit by a car and the owner wouldn’t get the animal medical attention. The neighbors said they couldn’t afford the vet bill. The woman took the dog to a vet and brought it home. She wanted to keep the dog and an officer told her she would have to work it out with the owner.

A female hiker called to report hearing bullets “whizzing” by her as she walked near a Forest Service road.
