Transient troubles in Whitefish

| June 16, 2018 2:00 AM

A transient camp was set up on the back porch of an abandoned building, according to the Whitefish Police Department.

A group of transients were later seen urinating in public on Central Avenue.

A third individual called about more transients urinating on his building and sleeping outside it. An officer transported one man and one woman from the scene.

Someone called to report a woman smoking marijuana in her apartment. The woman had an active patient green card.

A man was lying in the weeds with his dog, according to Kalispell Police Department call logs. When an officer spoke to the man, he said he had a meeting at the VFW, but didn’t have a place to stay so he took a nap next to his vehicle.

A man wearing a parka allegedly stole a bundle of firewood and left the scene in a gold Chevy Tahoe.

A 911 call turned out to be a false alarm when a woman accidentally dialed the digits while reaching over the phone to turn off the TV with the remote control.

A woman reported a man who had been stalking her for several months. She said he had left gifts, food and notes at her house and on her car. She said she had been in a relationship with him previously, but had made it very clear she was no longer interested. When an officer spoke to the man about her wishes, he said he wouldn’t contact her again.

Someone called to report a man lying in the driveway of an area business. There was also a blue bike next to him. A few minutes later, he got up and headed north on U.S. 93.

A woman in her 20s ran out of a hotel wearing only a towel. She was later given clothes while a companion of her’s remained in the room. It was determined they were not hotel guests. The woman claimed she was “roofied” and an officer took her to a location of her choosing.

A woman woke up to the sight of garbage strewn all over her yard and a “for sale” sign missing.

A man called to report that he had either dropped his wallet or someone had taken it from his vehicle.

A phone call to the Columbia Falls Police Department resulted in a mountain bike being returned to its owner. The caller said she saw a man riding a bike that appeared to match a bike she had seen on Facebook that was reported stolen. She said the man comes around the building a lot and always has a different bike.
