At lunchtime on Tuesday, 20 of the most impressive young people in the valley were recognized before a crowd of several hundred at June’s Kalispell Chamber of Commerce luncheon at the Red Lion Hotel.

The annual “20 under 40” awards are presented by the Daily Inter Lake in partnership with the Chamber.

This year, 115 nominations were submitted for 98 different candidates. A pre-selection committee made up of last year’s awardees narrowed the list to 50, after which a final selection committee picked the winning 20 young professionals.

“It is quite a task to go through and look at all the nominations of all these young people,” said Daily Inter Lake Publisher Rick Weaver, who was on the selection committee. “They were all worthy.”
