Patricia Ruth (Lemley) Chapman, 88

Patti was born June 28, 1929, to Lyle and Ruth Lemley, and grew up in Tacoma, Washington, attending Stadium High School, then University of Puget Sound. She married Dr. John Timothy (Tim) Chapman June 15, 1952.

She was an elementary school teacher until she and Tim began to raise their children, Doug and Jennifer. They lived in North Seattle for over 40 years. Once their family was grown, they lived on Vashon Island, Wash., in Tacoma, and eventually in Kalispell. They enjoyed spending their summers at Tim’s childhood beach place on Rocky Bay, in Gig Harbor, Washington.

Patti leaves behind a legacy of warmth and welcome toward all who knew her. She enjoyed entertaining and cooking for friends and family. She was an avid reader, seamstress, artist and writer of short stories. She was a lover of the outdoors, art, classical music and animals, and a huge fan of both University of Washington Huskies and Seahawks Football.

Patti passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018. at Prestige Assisted Living after a short battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her brother, Paul Lemley, and her beloved husband of 64 years, Tim Chapman.

She is survived by her son, Doug Chapman (Marcia) of Kirkland, Wash., Daughter Jennifer Desmul (Bud) of Kalispell, Jennifer’s biological father Greg Zoller (Sue), Denver CO and grandchildren Amy Chackel (Bryan), Emily Evans (Jamie), Timothy “Buddy” Chapman, Jack, Ben and Beau Desmul, and great-grandchildren, Lane Chackel and Amy Evans. Her life was filled with a great love for both her immediate and extended families and many friends.

A celebration of Patti’s life will be held at University Place Presbyterian Church, 8101 27th St. W. University Place, WA, at 11 a.m. June 28.
