50-ton boulder crashes down on garage in Billings rock slide

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Billings authorities say a rock slide sent a 50-ton boulder as big as a house into the garage of a home and left about 75 yards (69 meters) of road covered in rocks and debris.

Battalion Chief Jason Lyon estimates that between 100 and 150 yards (91 and 137 meters) of cliff face broke away Tuesday from the Rimrocks, geological rimrock sandstone formations surrounding parts of Billings.
He says no one was injured.
Sheri Lee, who was home at the time of the rock slide, says it sounded like a freight train.
The Billings Gazette reports the boulder smashed Lee's garage and crushed two of her vehicles and a motorcycle.
A power pole was also hit.
Lyons says two residences appear to be affected by the debris in the road.
