Kalispell Senior Center on auction block again
The Flathead County commissioners are hoping the third time is a charm as they attempt once again to sell the former Kalispell Senior Center facility.
Auctions held in December 2017 and January this year got no bidders, so another auction has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, at the commissioner chambers at the courthouse, 800 S. Main St. in Kalispell.
The senior-center facility is a former church building that was used by the Kalispell seniors for a number of years until the Senior Center was relocated to the county’s new South Campus Building.
The property for auction is located on a corner lot at 403 Second Ave. W. An older home and accessory building at 411 and 411 1/2 Second Ave. W., also are included in the auction. The properties owned by the county were appraised last year with a market value of $450,000, but a new appraisal of $160,000 reflects the improvements that would be needed to bring the buildings up to code.
The commissioners have set a minimum sale price of $182,000 based on the costs incurred to date. The property is being sold “as is,” according to a county sale notice.
The first auction attempt had set the minimum price at 90 percent of the appraised value of $450,000. The second try dropped the minimum bid to $315,000.
Terms of the sale are cash, with 20 percent of the successful bid due at the time of sale, with the balance due within 10 business days or forfeit the 20 percent down.
