Center selected for green building award
The Center for Sustainability and Entrepreneurship at Whitefish High School has been selected for a Leadership Award from the U.S. Green Building Council for the Mountain West region.
The Mountain West region encompasses eight states including Montana. According to www.usgbc.org, the award recognizes “the best of green building and sustainable market transformation,” and “the innovative projects and people that are leading towards a more resilient, healthy and equitable future.”
When completed, the Center for Sustainability and Entrepreneurship will include a two-story building of classrooms with an attached greenhouse surrounded by a production garden, edible forest and experimental forest.
The center is designed to be a lab for learning about sustainability in agriculture, energy systems, facilities and forestry for students and the larger community.
The U.S. Green Building Council Montana Annual Summit and Leadership Awards will be held March 8–9 in Butte.
The Center for Sustainability and Entrepreneurship will open on April 21.
