Cheryl Schankin, 61, passed away at her home in Whitefish on Feb. 28, 2018.

The renowned Whitefish seamstress was dearly loved and admired throughout the community.

Her artistic legacy is preserved beautifully in the stories she tells through her quilts, which capture the nurturing nature of the world surrounding her community.

Cheryl was born Dec. 29, 1957, in Detroit and is survived by her mother, Joyce Schankin; brothers, Mark and Roy Schankin, Sandi Reynolds; son, Graham Beardsley and daughter, Kylie Jugan.

A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, at the Great Northern Bar and Grill in Whitefish.
