Whitefish Theatre Co. seeks stars for “Kettlehouse”

The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for the 2018-2019 season opening production of “Kettlehouse” at 6 p.m. on May 7 at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Actors are instructed to enter from the north side of the building and arrive early to fill out an audition application and review the script. The company’s production of “Kettlehouse” is the developmental premiere of this new play by award-winning playwright Robert Caisley.

The play follows Miles Kettlehouse, whose parents were happily married on June 4, 1982, and happily divorced a day shy of their first wedding anniversary. The hitch? After the divorce, Miles’ dad never moved out and neither did her mom.

For the past 34 years, they have been loathing each other under the same roof, refusing to talk, even refusing to be on the same AT&T friends and family plan. Miles’ life has been reduced to being the goodwill ambassador, UN peacekeeper and back-channel negotiator for her emotionally stunted parents, cramping both her home and love life.

The cast will be composed of two men and two women. One male and one female actor should be in their 20s or 30s and one male and one female actor should be ages 50s to 70s. No experience or preparation is necessary to audition. Pages from the script will be provided.

Jere Hodgin is the director for this production. Rehearsals begin in early September and will be held on weeknight evenings from 6-9 p.m. There are seven performances over two weekends on Oct. 18-21 and 25-27. For more information, call the Whitefish Theatre Company at 862-5371.
