Flathead and Glacier were surely jumping for joy at word of the most recent Montana Elite Track & Field list, which was released Wednesday.

Three Flathead hurdlers — led by Chad Hemsley, who holds the second-fastest time in the 300-meter hurdles and third-fastest in the 110 hurdles — cracked the top 10 in the state in the boys 110 hurdles while Madison Boles posted the second-best mark in the girls long jump.

Glacier also leaped to the front of the pack, as Mark Estes and Hunter Nicholson, snagged the first and second spots in the boys triple jump, respectively.

Other top marks in the state held by local athletes belong to Ben Perrin (boys 3,200), Evan Todd (boys javelin), Annie Hill (girls 800), Bryn Morley (girls 1,600) and the Glacier boys 4x100 relay team.

The Wolfpack boys are also second in the 4x400 relay and posted strong showings in the sprints.

Ethan Larson is second in the 200, and Larson, Drew Turner and Mark Estes all find themselves within the top seven places in both the 100 and the 200.

Glacier’s Hill is second in both the girls 400 and 3,200, and Morley, a Bigfork standout, is the current runner-up in the 800.

Columbia Falls’ Angellica Street and Eureka’s Karlee Frost are second and third in the girls javelin, respectively.

Bennett McChesney of Glacier is third in the boys javelin, and Flathead’s Michael Lee ranks third in the boys shot put.
