School calendar

- St. Matthew’s School will put on a Missoula Children’s Theatre performance at 5 p.m. May 5 at Flathead High School. Tickets are $5 each and available at the door.

- Flathead Valley Community College is hosting a family-friendly event at the campus farm from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 5. Students and instructors will lead tours and hands-on activities designed to teach participants how to build fertile soil and construct a hoop house. Light refreshments will be served. Tours are scheduled at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. Activities for kids will be held in the greenhouse.

- A screening of the documentary “Generation Zapped,” will be held at 3:30 p.m. May 7 in the Kalispell Public School central office, 233 First Avenue East. Additional screenings will be held from 7-9 p.m. May 8-9 in the Flathead High School auditorium.

- St. Matthew’s School French students invite the public to partake in a six-course French meal and watch the movie “Hugo” at 6 p.m. May 10. There is no cost to attend, but donations will be accepted. Reservations are required by calling 406-752-6303.

- Swan River students have no school on May 11.

- Bigfork Elementary kindergarten registration is May 11. Schedule an appointment by calling 406-837-7412.

- Celebrate Mother’s Day weekend by attending the Smith Valley School pancake breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, then shop for local handmade goods at the Smith Valley School craft show and lemonade stand from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The school is located at 2901 U.S. 2 W., in Kalispell.

- The public is invited to attend the Family Forestry Expo from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 12 at the Trumbull Creek Educational Forest located two miles north of the junction of U.S. 2 and Montana 40 — west of Columbia Falls. There will be short forest walks with educational stations and demonstrations along the way. A grandstand show is planned at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Free lunch will be served between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. For more information call 406-758-5218 or visit www.familyforestryexpo.org.

- Flathead Valley Community College will hold a free ice cream social from noon to 1 p.m. FVCC President Jane Karas will be giving an update on the college’s “One” campaign and plans on the future library and learning commons.

- May 15 is the deadline to register children for kindergarten in West Valley School. Eligible children must be 5 before Sept. 10. Birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency must be presented at the time of registration.

- Smith Valley School will have an early dismissal on May 16.

- Bigfork schools K-8 students will participate in a Bigfork Fun Run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 16.

- A kindergarten- through fourth-grade Spring Learning Celebration and Concert will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 17 at Fair-Mont Egan School.

- A teen social is planned from 4-5:30 p.m. May 17 at ImagineIF library in Kalispell. The featured craft will be T-shirt painting and decorating.

- Bigfork School District will host its annual community spring carnival from 5-7 p.m. May 18 on the campus lawn. There will be games, activities, food for purchase and live music. Students may purchase tickets for games during the week before the event.

- Students at Fair-Mont-Egan School have a 1:30 p.m. early dismissal on May 18.

- The Bigfork Booster Club annual spring barbecue fundraiser will be held May 20. Tickets are $100 and include dinner, drinks and entry into a $10,000 grand-prize drawing. Tickets can be purchased at the Bigfork Village Florist or from booster club members. Proceeds benefit athletic and extracurricular activities at Bigfork School District. - An early dismissal is planned in Kalispell Public Schools on May 23 for teacher training.

- A fifth- through eighth-grade Spring Learning Celebration and Concert will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 24 at Fair-Mont-Egan School.

- Flathead Home Educators Association will hold a graduation ceremony from 10 a.m. to noon May 26 at Easthaven Baptist Church. About 48 students are anticipated to take part.

- There is no school May 28 in observance of Memorial Day.

- Whitefish Independent High School students will graduate May 31.

- Linderman Education Center’s graduation is planned at 7 p.m. May 31 in the gym. There will be about 100 students graduating.

- Flathead High School’s graduation is planned at 7 p.m. June 1 in the gym. About 330 students are expected to graduate.

- Stillwater Christian School’s graduation is slated for 6:30 p.m. June 1 in the gym. Twenty-three students are expected to graduate.

- Bigfork students will have a full day of school on June 1 to make up time as a result of school closures in September that were due to cyber threats.

- There is no school at Cayuse Prairie on June 1 for teacher training.

- Bigfork High School’s graduation is planned for 11 a.m. June 2. About 63 students are expected to graduate.

- Columbia Falls High School’s graduation is set for 11 a.m. June 2 in the gym. Roughly 130 students are expected to graduate.

- Glacier High School’s graduation will be held June 2 in the gym. Approximately 297 students are expected to graduate.

- Whitefish High School graduation is set for 1 p.m. June 2 in the gym. About 112 students are expected to graduate including two foreign exchange students.
