Polson netters best C-Falls in NW A dual
Hannah Schweikert’s 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles for Columbia Falls prevented the Polson girls from netting a sweep in a Northwestern A tennis dual at Flathead Valley Community College on Tuesday afternoon.
Polson won the Nos. 2-3-4 singles and all three doubles matches for a decisive 6-1 victory.
“She’s doing well,” Columbia Falls girls coach Gene Marcille said of his freshman standout.
“Her tennis stroke is strong. She’s starting to get her game side figured out more and more.”
The match of the day was at No. 2 singles where Polson’s Sharmaine Zempel stopped Katy Garage 3-6, 7-6 (10-8), 6-1.
In boys action, it was all Polson for a 7-0 victory.
The most competitive action in that dual was at No. 1 doubles with Polson’s Kaiden Forman-Webster and Sam Schultz topping John Gilk and Tristan Grein, 6-3, 6-4.
“I’m proud of all the kids,” Columbia Falls coach Michele Colliander said.
“They played really well despite the scores. A lot of really good points were played today.”
Columbia Falls is back in action today at Ronan at 4 p.m. and Friday visits Libby for a 2 p.m. dual.
Polson has a dual at Whitefish on Thursday.
